``Homogenization of a variational problem on a domain with
oscillating boundaries via periodic unfolding.''

We present a variational problem on a sequence of 2-dimensional domains with
highly periodically oscillating boundaries. Using the periodic unfolding
method (which will be briefly explained), the homogenized problem is obtained
in the limit as the period length approaches zero. The proof is amazingly
simple. Extensions in higher dimensions and with highly oscillating
coefficients are also given. In this framework, a result of strong convergence
is obtained which seems to be new.
